OLED (Organic Lighting Electric Diode) is a light-emitting device which emits
light in response to current flowing in the organic film, and is appealing as
an alternative next-generation display that will displace TFT LCD. Recently,
as demands of AMOLED panel-adopted mobile applications grow sharply, attention
and investment for AMOLED became lively again.
Samsung Mobile Display (SMD) and LG Display (LGD) plan to launch AMOLED TV
that can be mass-produced; many other display industry-related companies have
shown lots of interest in the movement of AMOLED production. Depending on how
the OLED light emits, it is divided into Fluorescent or Phosphorescent, the
source of most of the phosphorescent OLED (PHOLED) patents are owned by U.S
UDC (Universal Display Corporation).
