CoreSite delivers carrier and cloud neutral colocation and interconnection services to more than 800 customers. It provides access to more than 275 carriers and ISPs and more than 250 cloud and IT service providers, as well as to its own Any2Exchange peering exchange and the CoreSite Open Cloud Exchange. The company offers 100% uptime service level agreements (SLAs) and 15 of its data centers are validated to SSAE 16 SOC1 Type 2 (Statements on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16 Service Organization Controls). This case study describes and analyzes CoreSite's business model, covering its geographic footprint and expansion strategy, the competitive environment in which it operates, and its recent financial performance and debt levels. CoreSite was known as CRG West until 2009 (See Corporate Background and Financial Analysis for full details), but for simplicity all details related to CRG West are referred to as CoreSite. The company measures its space in terms of net rentable square feet (NRSF), but we have used the generic term colocation space for the purposes of this report, except where the space is rented for office and light industrial use.
