The flash memory market has high potential for growth, and it is expected to achieve an average growth rate for revenue of 14 percent annually over the next five years, due to increasing demand coming from the Communications and Consumer markets especially, alongside advancement in manufacturing processes and technology for Flash chips.

Over the last decade, the flash memory market has taken off as a result of increased usage in a wide range of consumer and computing electronic devices. Flash memory is currently being used extensively in portable devices such as cell phones, portable media players, digital cameras, and in the latest netbooks, tablets, and e-book readers. This is the type of memory being used for several types of portable data storage devices like USB drives, and it is also being utilized widely by the video gaming device industry. The automotive and industrial markets are also providing opportunities for flash memory.

Flash will likely account for over $26 billion in sales for 2010, with only analog, logic, DRAM and MPUs generating more in total sales.
