In 2015, the production of lighting fixtures in the United States is estimated to amount to USD 11.6 billion. It has finally overcome the pre-crisis level (last peak was registered in 2008, USD 11.4 billion). Over the past five years, average nominal growth of production has been 3.2% per year; while consumption has increased by the double, 6.4%; on the other hand, exports and imports have been growing on average by 9.9% and 11.8% annually. Import flows of lighting fixtures come mainly from China (64.2% of the market share) and Mexico (19.1%). During 2015, imports from those countries grew respectively by 8.7% and 7.4%. In just six years, the LED segment experienced an outstanding growth: from 6% to 15% between 2008 and 2011, and then up to 42% by the end of 2015. The LED segment has increased especially for the outdoor applications, for which, today, it accounts for about 60% (20% more than the year before). Top players that, during 2015, improved their position in term of market shares were: Acuity, GE, Cree, Amerlux, Wac Lighting, and Energy Focus.
