This report ranks 50 appliance manufacturers selected according to their volume of sales.
The total turnover of the analyzed companies is worth around Eur 920 billion, including Euro 240 billion of the major appliances considered in this report: refrigerators and freezers, washers and driers, dishwashers, hoods, cooking appliances, microwave ovens, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners.
Company profiles are available for each of the 50 appliance manufacturers, with information on company background, historical and recent facts, basic data (including total turnover of the last two years, white appliances turnover and white appliances share on total production, number of employees and turnover per employee, as well as number of household appliances sold, when available), sales breakdown by business, by product and by geographical area, production sites, brands, divisions, controlled companies and subsidiaries with office addresses and contacts.
Each profile contains also the company head office address, including telephone, fax and website, the stock symbol and the trading stock exchange, CEO and/or Chairman contacts.
Average unit value is estimated at 240 USD (based on trade unit values and main players average values).
Considering a subgroup of Major appliances including refrigerators and freezers, washers and dryers, dishwashers, hoods, cooking appliances, world trade amounts to around USD 44 billion in 2014, equal to about 350 million units.
The analysis includes global players and “regional leaders” (Amica, CNA Group, Gorenje, Dacor, Arcelik, Vestel, Smeg, and others). Some companies have developed an international presence in specific segments (Aga Foodservice in the bakery segment, Gree, Daikin and Chunlan for air conditioners).
Considering the country of the headquarters, 12 companies are Chinese, 7 Japanese, 7 Americans, 5 Italians, 12 of other European countries (including Turkey), 5 from South Korea and India.
On the basis of the sample of the top appliances manufacturers, CSIL estimates a growing trend for the appliances market. In the period 2011-2014, worldwide market of major appliances (average 3.5% per year in US currency, some 5% in Eur) thanks to good performances in America and Asia. Also EBITDA is growing during the last three years period, from 8.6% up to 9.9%.

According to CSIL estimates, the top 10 companies accounted for over 60% of the global appliances market in 2014 compared to 56% in 2011. The increase in the level of concentration is due to the good performances and the growth in market shares of Asian companies such as Gree and LG.
Compared to 2011, better performances are showed by Chinese manufacturers of major appliances (Vatti Corporation, Robam, Gree, Hisense) but also Turkish (Arçelik), South Korean (LG and Daewoo) and the European BSH.
