Summary

Italian retail sales declined from EUR337.5 billion in 2009 to EUR331.7 billion in 2014 at a CAGR of -0.3%. Food and grocery was the largest category group accounting for 56.7% of total Italian retail sales, which represented a value of EUR188.0 billion in 2014. Health and beauty was the fastest-growing category group during the review period, registering a CAGR of 1.7%. Total retail sales in the country is further expected to reach EUR344.2 billion in 2019 growing at a CAGR of 0.7% during the forecast period.
