Abstract
The market for digital television (DTV) sets is being governed by the
switchover from analog to digital broadcasts, the emergence of developing
countries as DTV consumers, and the emergence of networking and wireless
connectivity options. DTV vendors continue to add networking capability,
primarily Ethernet and Wi-Fi, to bring the DTV into the home network, and to
maintain its position as the center of the home entertainment cluster. In
addition, wireless connectivity options such as 60GHz and WHDI offer the
potential for wireless HD streaming in the home.
This PowerPoint presentation looks at marketing and technology factors
affecting the DTV market in five different regions: North America, Europe,
Japan, Asia/Pacific, and Rest of World. Annual shipment, ASP, and revenue
forecasts by TV type (LCD, plasma, CRT, rear projection, and OLED) are
provided for each region through 2013. Also included are annual component
bill-of-materials forecasts for LCD DTVs, ATSC DTVs, and DVB-T DTVs through
2013.
