中國是世界少數的糖醇產品市場。隨著下游工程產業需求增加、國內糖醇產業近年急速成長、國內生產量從2007年的60萬噸、擴大至2013年的116萬噸。中國生產的糖醇產品主要包括山梨糖醇、麥芽糖醇、甘露醇、赤蘚醇、半乳糖醇、異麥芽糖醇、山梨糖醇生產量佔整體83%。製藥、食品產業是最大的需求來源、全消費量佔80%以上、烘培食品與甜味劑、化菻~、牙膏、口香糖需求近年也急速擴大。

China is playing an important role in sugar alcohol market in the world at present. With the growing demand from downstream industries, sugar alcohol industry in China has entered a rapid development stage in recent years. The output of sugar alcohol products increased to about 1.16 million tonnes in 2013 from about 0.6 million tonnes in 2007.

Sugar alcohols produced in China mainly include sorbitol, xylitol, maltitol, mannitol, erythritol, lactitol, isomaltitol and others. Sorbitol is the most important sugar alcohol and its output took up about 83% of the total in 2013.

Pharmacy and food industries are the two largest consumption fields of sugar alcohols in China which consumed more than 80% of domestic sugar alcohols in 2013. With the development of sugar alcohol industry, sugar alcohol products have been used in more and more industries such as baked food, table sweeteners, cosmetic and toothpaste, especially chewing gum which has witnessed quick development in recent years.
