Driven by the demand from the downstream products such as ice cream, and instant drinks (milk powder and other nutrient solid drinks), maltodextrin industry in China keeps developing in recent years. The output of maltodextrin in China has already come to about 1,300,000 tonnes in 2010.

There are 29 active maltodextrin producers in China at the beginning of 2011. Eight producers adopt corn as raw material. Zhucheng Dongxiao Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Henan Mengzhou Golden Corn Co., Ltd. and Shandong Xiwang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. take the lead in the industry, totally producing more than 40% of the domestic output in 2011.
