Summary

The beverage market is mostly on the increase as there are many emerging economies and fast growing populations. Traditional flavours are the mainstay of the category and they continue to grow. Carbonates are in a slow decline as people switch to healthier beverages and become aware of the sugar content in drinks. In many countries hot tea is a very mature market and will not see any substantial growth.

Key Findings

  • Japan and Taiwan are the only markets set to see a decline for the forecast period with the soft drinks market the only category to see a slight growth
  • Cider still has not managed to make its way into half of the Asian markets
  • Packaged water has seen substantial growth due to an increase in disposable income and is the most popular category after white milk and hot tea
  • Squash/syrups are losing to rtd options and the category is declining
