Transient ischaemic attack (TIA), also known as a mini or minor stroke, is an acute episode that results in a temporary loss of neurologic function. Similar to strokes, they are caused by the disruption of cerebral blood flow which can happen as a result of either partial or total occlusion or stenosis of a vessel. Unlike a stroke the symptoms of a TIA can resolve themselves usually between a few minutes and 24 hours. This report provides the current incident population for TIA disease across 8 Major Markets (USA, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK, Brazil and Japan) split by gender and 5-year age cohort. Along with the current incidence, the report also contains a disease overview of the risk factors, disease diagnosis and prognosis along with specific variations by geography and ethnicity.
