Abstract
The World Telecom Market for Connectors provides a new, in - depth analysis of
the world telecommunications and data communications market for connectors
from 2010 to 2015. The 257 page report is organized around the six major
market segments which include enterprise network equipment, wireless
infrastructure equipment, wireless subscriber equipment, wireline carrier
equipment, cable/MSO equipment and other telecom equipment.
For each market segment, the strategic implications of economics, competition,
industry consolidation, convergence and technology advances are examined with
respect to their impact on the evolving architectures, corresponding evolution
of the equipment design and connectors.
For each major market segment, the subset of equipment is identified by
equipment type and is characterized by where the equipment resides in the
evolutionary process (legacy, transitional or next generation) and, key
packaging and interconnection characteristics/trends. Five-year connector
sales are identified by connector type for each subset of equipment.
The following are some key points from the Executive Summary:
From 2009, the market grew 21.2% in 2010 to a connector value of nearly $7.4
billion.
The single largest influence on the telecom/datacom market is the
Internet. From 2000 to 2010, worldwide Internet usage increased from
361,000 users to 1,966,515,000.
In 2000, the global IP traffic equaled 95.5 Petabytes per month, an average of
0.26 Gigabytes per user. In 2010, this traffic has increased to 21,380
Petabytes per month, an average of 10.9 Gigabytes per user.
The second largest factor influencing the telecom/datacom market is
hand-held wireless devices including cell phones, smartphones, and broadband
devices. In 2010, according to the International Telecommunication Union,
there was 5.3 billion mobile cellular subscriptions worldwide. That is
approximately 76% of the world population.
These two factors are driving the growth of the telecom/datacom market,
particularly wireless infrastructure equipment.
The following is an example of the types of tables found in the
Executive Summary and body of the report. All the tables cover the period of
2010 to 2015.
