This report provides an in-depth analysis of the Saudi bathroom market including the monitoring of recent trend patterns and demand drivers, plus substantiated volume forecasts for the next 5 years.
The GCC countries have been facing a new challenge since the end of 2015, that appear to be of a higher importance than the economic crisis that hit the region few years ago. The effect of the huge decline of the oil price on the government revenues put a serious threat on budgets allocated to construction. Measures of austerity (with the introduction of new tax such as VAT from 2018) were taken in most countries and some construction projects were cancelled or postponed. However, most of the GCC countries use their forex reserve to keep their imports high despite the drop in revenues.
It is believed that the bathroom market growth should continue but at slower pace in 2016 compared to 2015. Indeed, the fear of major political instability affecting the whole region, pushes the governments to respond with zeal to the housing demand, while maintaining as much as possible the purchase power for the population in order to avoid social uprising. For this reason, the bathroom market should continue to be driven by high private consumptions in the replacement market as well as the residential construction with a minimum of projects postponed or cancelled.
