BMI View:The SSA construction industry will record the highest construction growth globally over the next five years as government continue to tackle their infrastructure deficits and funding flows into major power, transport and commodity-related developments in the region. While SSA will trail MENA construction industry growth over 2017, it will return to the stop spot from 2018, owing to improved outlooks for key markets Nigeria and Ethiopia.

SSA Infrastructure RRI: High Risks Offset Rewards

SSA is the riskiest region globally to invest in infrastructure according to our new Infrastructure Risk/ Reward Index. This weak performance is primarily the result of macroeconomic and political instability and regulatory uncertainty, which are the main stumbling blocks to governments' efforts to fund projects and the key deterrents to investors looking to capitalise on the region's growth opportunities.
