Abstract
Product overview
Global service assurance spending is forecast to grow from USD2.3 billion in
2007 to USD3.5 billion in 2012 with a CAGR of 9%. North America remains the
region in which the largest investments will be made, but Europe, the Middle
East and Africa (EMEA) is forecast to eclipse North America in 2008. Growth in
spending on service assurance in the rest of the world is forecast to increase
from USD370 million in 2007 to USD662 million in 2012, with a CAGR of 12.3%.
We expect slower growth in North America as demand from consumers and
businesses weakens in 2008 and 2009. Spending on service assurance in EMEA
will grow with a CAGR of 9% over the forecast period, driven mainly by Eastern
Europe and the Middle East.
Over the past two years, supplier consolidation in the service assurance
market has occurred in the mature probe systems market. The fault and
performance monitoring segments have consolidated to a lesser extent. The
emergence of IT suppliers in the telecoms sector supports our view that CSPs
are gradually migrating existing systems to support convergent services, and
that they are willing to embrace less specialised off-the-shelf applications
that reduce integration cost. This is being driven by business convergence and
lower-cost IT technologies. IBM is the largest commercial supplier of service
assurance solutions, with 11% market penetration. Agilent, HP, Tektronix, and
Telcordia follow with 8%, 8%, 7%, and 5%, respectively.
This 63-page report provides a detailed five-year forecast for service
assurance as well as the five sub-segments: probe systems, fault management,
performance monitoring, service management, and workforce automation. The
forecast is broken out by region and service types, providing forecasts for 43
different segment views. The report includes market shares of the leading
suppliers overall and in each of the five sub-segments. It provides
definitions for service assurance overall and for each of the sub-segments. It
includes analysis of the market drivers and inhibitors for growth in all
segments.
The report addresses the following important issues:
- The most important drivers for CSP spending in service assurance
- New opportunities and limits for service assurance in high-growth,
emerging markets
- Factors driving CSP and supplier consolidation in the industry
- Where significant shifts in spending patterns are taking place
- Why and where mobile CSPs are putting more emphasis on assurance.
The report includes a table comparing 45 service assurance suppliers. The
market shares of the leading suppliers are provided for the overall service
assurance market as well as for each of the five sub-segments. The market
share sections include explanations of the six leading suppliers in each area.
