目錄

"Mobile operators will aim to maximise revenue from data usage by introducing shared data plans or unlimited data with TV plans."

Telecoms revenue in North America (NA) will stabilise after a peak in 2015 and the USA will account for 91% of total retail revenue in 2020. Mobile voice services generate the largest proportion of total retail revenue (25% in 2014) but will account for just 15% in 2020, replaced by mobile handset data revenue, and fixed broadband and IPTV revenue. We have revised up our fixed broadband and IPTV revenue forecast because next-generation networks are expanding rapidly, increasing the availability of integrated broadband and TV offers.

This report provides:

  • an interim update of our 5-year forecast of more than 100 mobile and fixed KPIs for North America, as a whole and two key countries, which was previously published in August 2015
  • an explanation of the significant changes in this edition, compared with our previous forecasts.

Revisions to our previous forecasts occurred mainly for the following reasons:

  • market developments - based on recent market events, and latest reported operator and regulator data (3Q 2015)
  • changes to the competitive and regulatory environment
  • changes to the macroeconomic outlook and exchange rates used to derive revenue in constant US dollars
  • changes to historical data because of newly available information.
