Abstract
As more and more companies start new modern projects and establish their own
plants in the Russian Federation, this report includes information on foreign
car assembly and localization in Russia, the characteristics of market players
and their local suppliers.
Furthermore, the report contains a list of global suppliers of components for
car models assembled or planned to be assembled in the Russian Federation.
All data, presented in the report is clearly organized and complied in tables
and illustrated with graphs and diagrams where necessary.
Background to this research
It is significant that in spite of the double digit sales growth of
domestically produced foreign cars sales in 2010, sales between January and
April 2011 are remarkably strong - up 89.9% to 288,100 cars. Domestically
produced foreign cars sales exceeded those of imported cars, which grew by
57.9% to 232,600 cars for the same period.
Over 60% of domestically produced foreign cars are manufactured under the
industrial assembly regime. In addition, the new industrial assembly rules
which came into effect in February 2011, are designed to promote the growth of
foreign car production in Russia.
