Abstract

INTRODUCTION and OVERVIEW

AMA Research are pleased to announce the publication of a brand new report: "Advanced Biological Treatment Market - UK 2010-14" - covering in-vessel composting and solid waste anaerobic digestion (AD).

Advanced Biological Treatment (ABT), and in particular AD, are key in the development of the UK' s waste (and renewable energy) infrastructure as government and the waste industry strive to meet EU targets for the reduction in landfilling organic waste and increasing the levels of energy fuelled from renewable sources, in particular food waste.

To meet the 2013 and 2002 Landfill Directive (& the 2020 renewable energy) targets around 100 large commercial and 1,000 on-farm AD are likely to be needed plus an unspecified number of IVC plants. Key drivers for AD will be government incentives for e.g. ' double ROCs' , Feed-in-Tariffs, the Quality Protocol /BS PAS 100 and the upcoming Renewable Heat Incentive.

The report contains:

  • Market overview - analysis of organic waste arisings in UK and in each of the 4 home nations; trends in treatment of organic waste; estimates of current and pipeline capacities for IVC, AD and MBT plants.
  • Key market drivers and barriers to growth - regulations / legislation; fiscal and non-fiscal incentives; impact of recession, planning processes etc.
  • Review of the supply and operations sectors for AD, IVC and MBT.

Areas of particular interest include:-

  • Recent market developments - in terms of ABT input capacity, feedstock types, power outputs; summary of operators and plant suppliers.
  • Market prospects - in terms of ABT capacity, outputs, operators and plant suppliers; identification of size, location, ownership etc of new facilities.
  • Government incentives to stimulate developments in both the organic waste treatment / composting and renewable energy sectors.
  • Overview of market drivers and barriers to growth in UK - key opportunities and constraints.

Companies profiled include:-

AgriGen, Agrivert, Alkane Energy, Allertex Ecosystems, Alpheco Composting, Amey Cespa, Andigestion, Ascot Environmental, Biffa Waste Services, Biogas Nord Biogas Weser EMS, Biogen Greenfinch, Celtic Bio Energy, Chelveston Renewable Energy, Civic Environmental Systems, Cory Environmental Services, Countrystyle Group, CRS Bio Group, Eco Sustainable Solutions, Ecodeco, Energen Biogas, Enpure, Entec Biogas, Envar, Farmatic Anlagenbau, Farmgen, Fernbrook Bio, Garbology, Gicom, Glendale Power, Global Renewables Lancashire, Green Wold Energy / GWE Biogas, Greenview Environmental, Haase Energietechnik, Hills Waste Solutions, In Vessel Composting Ltd, In-Vessel Composting UK Ltd, Local Generation, Lower Reule Bioenergy, MCR (Midland Compost & Recycling), Monsal, MT Energie, Mytum & Selby Waste Recycling, Natural World Products, New Earth Solutions, Premier Waste Management, Proactive Energy, Prosper de Mulder, Ros Roca, Envirotec, SARIA Bio Industries, Schmack Biogas, Scottish and Southern Energy, Scottish Water Waste Services, Scotwaste, Selby Renewable Energy Park (SREP), Shanks UK, SITA Holdings UK, Sustainable Environmental Systems, The TEG Group Plc, UTS Biogastechnik, VCU Europa Ltd, Veolia Environmental Services (Veolia ES), Vertal, Viridor Laing, Viridor Waste Management, Vital Earth, Waste Recycling Group, Wasteology Systems Ltd, WELtec Biopower, West London Composting, Whites Renewable Energy, Worm Tech, Xergi.
