Brussels Report

Our Brussels-based editorial team monitors the progress of legislation at every stage - from initiation, to adoption by the Commission, through the Standing Committees, the Council of Ministers and the European Parliament. We follow developments at the main Council meetings and analyse the positions of Member States on important issues. EU Food Law closely follows scientific advice from EFSA as well as national agencies such as the UK Food Standards Agency, BfR (German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment) and the French food safety agency Afssa.

Food Law in the Member States

Throughout Europe we have a network of contributors monitoring new legislation, policy proposals and the latest developments on food law in the Member States. EU Food Law reports on new policy initiatives affecting the food industry and the implementation of EU legislation, and also monitors the regulation of the food industry outside the European Union.

About the Editor

Kate Trollope is the editor of EU Food Law. Kate is a highly respected food policy commentator and journalist, with over 16 years' experience in the industry. She and the EU Food Law editorial team report on the key food-related proposals from the European Commission and their subsequent discussion in the European Parliament, the Council and the Standing Committee. They take a keen interest in the risk assessments from the European Food Safety Authority and how these are taken into account by the risk managers, while dealing with all the hot topics from nanotechnology and genetically modified food to cloning.
