Information at the heart of the internet At a time when blogs and social networks are becoming powerful vehicles for information and opinion-shaping, when citizen journalism is thriving alongside traditional print mediafs online outlets, the internet continues to strengthen its role as a central vector for distributing information. How much credibility should be given to this new brand of news? How are reputed print media companies incorporating the web and citizen journalism into the way they work and the way they present the news? How can they take advantage of the proliferation of platforms to enable their print and digital editions to mutually feed and enhance one another?

While there is no denying the runaway success of user-generated content, it does need to be put into perspective, particularly given the amount of professionally-produced content found on video sites. Can advertising pay for everything? Will financing online content occur at the expense of other media?
