HD TV Delivery Platform: Broadband Technology, Convergence and Evolution
Friday, 8 June | 10:45 – 12:15

As HDTV continues to make its way to the mainstream market, broadband's role in the delivery platform for such applications as HD IPTV and SDTV has generated much discussion and debate on technology choices. The evolution of bringing these applications to the masses has a direct influence on network topology, the need for convergence of various broadband technologies by equipment manufacturers as well as the impact on requirements for SoC companies.

This panel will take a look at the issues and challenges that the broadband industry faces and discuss solutions that will help bring the services, distribution of services, and QoE of HDTV applications to the consumer market.

With perspectives from a host of players in the broadband arena, the session will focus on the following questions:

  • What home gateway broadband technology is ideal for the HDTV scenario?
  • What are the network topology, content, and service provider considerations to bring this application to market?
  • How do other triple-play applications in the voice, video, and data arena impact the HDTV platform?
