The convergence of services had a huge impact on how the residential gateway is positioned. The residential gateway evolved from a simple broadband delivery device to a service delivery platform. Together with new technologies to increase the bandwidth, we see new services popping up. The key challenges for service providers will be facing the strong competition from entrenched players, including cable providers and mobile operators, and providing these services for the first time with the expected high level of quality and an ease of use that matches customers' expectations.
This panel session will explore which are the new services, what the role of the next-generation gateway in the digital home will be, and how the new service delivery can increase service providers' revenue.
