Interoperability in a Multi-Vendor Environment
Wednesday, 6 June | 10:30 – 12:00

Just as the industry banded together to deliver worldwide standards for DSL, the industry has been busy establishing interoperability benchmarks for PON technologies. Service providers and telecommunications companies are realizing that PON deployments are now overtaking DSL deployments in some regions and interoperability has become a crucial requirement to ensure supply and drive down cost.

The panel will discuss the efforts behind and status of ITU-T and IEEE-based PON interoperability. For a complete view of the industry, the panel will consist of a service provider, an equipment vendor, standards organizations and test labs. Standards initiatives, the carrier experience, equipment vendor challenges, and requirements for worldwide interoperability will be addressed.
