Abstract
VDC is pleased to announce the release of its POS Terminals/Workstations
report, Volume 3 of its 2008 Retail Automation Equipment Planning Service. The
report analyzes the global consumption and expected purchases of point-of-sale
(POS) equipment. Further, the report provides the following for each vertical
market segment: typical retail respondent profiles/demographics, planned
equipment expenditures, purchase decision criteria, vendor satisfaction
ratings, analysis of shipments by distribution channel, buyer decision making
positions, and preferred vendors.
Research Highlights
In 2007, the global market for POS terminals surpassed $3.3 billion, with unit
shipments exceeding 1.7 million. VDC anticipates that revenue shipments for
POS terminals will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.6%,
reaching $4.1 billion by 2012. In terms of unit shipments, the global market
is expected to grow at 7.8% (CAGR) annually through 2012, when unit volumes
will approach 2.5 million
