The focus of the worldwide acrylic fiber market is shifting towards developing regions. Since the early 1990s, the production of acrylic fiber in developed regions such as, the US and Europe has declined, leading to closure of several production units. During the same period, countries like China and Turkey, have registered double-digit growth rates in the acrylic fiber market. The increasing production in Asian regions is a result of soaring domestic demand and dependence of the western nations on low-cost production centers in Asia. Government subsidy on land, cheap energy and labor resources have also helped Asian economies to emerge as dominant producers of the acrylic fiber market.
