Abstract
Among the six UMPC panels on display at FPD International 2006 in Yokohama, 7W was the most popular size, followed by 4.8W and 8.9W. As for resolution, most were WSVGA or WVGA, with the two accounting for 50.0% and 33.3% of the panels respectively. The panels also offered high-end features such as high color saturation and wide viewing angle. This report analyzes the UMPC panels on display at FPB International 2006, examining size, display technology, and resolution, as in doing so uncovers UMPC panel strategies of major display panel makers.
