Abstract
This IDC study offers a look at the current state of IPTV and other pay-TV
services, such as cable television and Direct-to-Home (DTH) in the region of
Central and Eastern Europe, with highlights and trends from individual markets.
It also focuses on the impending offering of IPTV services, examining drivers
and inhibitors and unique regional challenges that IPTV providers in CEE are
facing. The following questions are addressed:
- What are current and expected future penetration levels for IPTV and other pay-TV services in CEE?
- Which countries in Central and Eastern Europe are expected to see the highest growth potential for IPTV services?
- What is the current competitive environment for pay-TV services?
- Which are among the leading IPTV providers in the region?
- What are among the unique challenges facing CEE regional operators, and what business models can be employed to overcome these challenges?

CATV and DTH providers, will make the introduction of IPTV an uphill battle for
CEE service providers. As competition in the broadband market heats up,
however, broadband providers will have no choice but to keep adding value to
their network services in order to reduce churn and maintain a competitive
