Abstract
This IDC study presents the results and key findings from IDC' s Global Delivery
Index - Asia/Pacific v2.0 (GDI-AP v2.0). The GDI-AP v2.0 builds upon the
foundation created by the GDI-AP v1.0 and has been subject to enhanced
methodology. The GDI-AP v2.0 assesses 35 cities from across the Asia/Pacific
(including Japan) or APIJ region across a number of set criteria to establish a
view of optimal global delivery locations. Cities are assessed on the basis of
their potential to act as global delivery locations and their future growth
potential. Further to this, IDC makes a prediction of how locations will stack
up in 2012, on the basis on current initiatives and investment. This study also
presents a comparative view of the competitive landscape, creating a picture of
changing dynamics from 2008 through to 2012.
"The rate of change within the global sourcing ecosystem is such that vendors
and service providers (SPs), end-user organizations, government bodies alike
need to be continually reviewing and updating strategies to ensure optimal
results. The long-term nature of investment cycles for global delivery
locations means that careful selection of locations is critical in ensuring a
viable operation in the long term, " says Jenna Griffin, senior analyst, Global
Sourcing and Business Services, IDC Asia/Pacific.
