Abstract
This IDC Insight examines the growing demand for converged devices in
Australia, in addition to the different OSs and development platforms that
support these devices. Increased competition from new platforms such as Apple' s
Mac OS X for mobile, Google' s Android, and various customised versions of
existing platforms will increase the pace of innovation as vendors and mobile
OS developers battle to improve upon the competition' s offerings. This insight
also compares the key features of the different mobile OSs, as well as their
consumer appeal.
