Abstract
This IDC study provides an overview of the IPTV market in the Asia/Pacific
(excluding Japan) or APEJ region. This study covers the seven key markets
tracked by IDC Asia/Pacific' s Consumer Market Research: Australia, Hong Kong,
India, Korea, the People' s Republic of China (PRC), Singapore, Taiwan, and the
rest of Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or ROAPEJ.
"IPTV continues to make headway in the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ)
region in 2007. The momentum of IPTV seems to continue as new services have
been launched in several APEJ markets and regulatory hurdles have finally been
removed in Korea," says Claudio Checchia, research manager, Consumer Market
Research, IDC Asia/Pacific. "Business models for IPTV offerings in APEJ are
still evolving, with some SPs treating it as just another pay TV service
bundled with broadband access services, while other providers have started to
emphasize the competitive advantages that IPTV has to offer over traditional
pay TV services."
