Abstract
This IDC study examines the new communications market called personal IP
communication services. The study takes a look at how the market is currently
defined, the players in the market, the challenges for the players, and how all
these change as the market continues to evolve and grow.
"Personal IP communications is the future of real-time communications for the
individual user. The amount of interest and innovation surrounding this
emerging market is staggering," says Rebecca Swensen, research analyst for
IDC' s VoIP Services. "By 2012, IDC predicts that total active subscribers using
VoIP in this market will be more than 320 million."
