Abstract
IDC study examines the consumer security market for the period from 2006 to 2012, with vendor revenue and market growth forecasts. A five-year growth forecast for this market is shown for 2008-2012.
"Although the consumer security market is slowing from the days of 45% annual growth, the worldwide market still represents $2.83 billion in revenue, and vendors are scrapping to take share away from Symantec," said Jon Crotty, research analyst for IDC' s Security Products program. IDC believes the consumer security market will ultimately shift from a set of point products into a more comprehensive solution that encompasses security, backup and storage, system management tools, and other consumer PC technologies.
