Abstract
This IDC study reviews the performance of the Windows COE market during 2007 and provides a forecast for Windows products available in this market segment through 2012. Included in this study are five-year forecasts for Windows COEs, including new license shipments and installed base by SKU.
"Windows Vista was more successful in consumer environments during 2007 than the trade press gives it credit for, but the business community has been, as expected, slow to adopt Windows Vista. We believe the sluggish adoption is caused more by the maturation of the client PC than by concerns over Windows Vista specifically," said Al Gillen, research VP, System Software at IDC. "Looking forward, we expect that 2008 will mark the beginning of a much stronger adoption curve for Windows Vista on the business side, especially now that Windows Server 2008 has launched."
