Abstract
This IDC study analyzes the offshore application outsourcing services
competitive landscape by examining the performance of select providers and
their key growth strategies and future directions. While some vendors are
promoting application outsourcing engagements that include legacy
modernization, others lead with custom application development or large-scale
SOA engagements that end with the provider continuing to proactively manage the
application(s) on a long-term basis. "Some providers are looking beyond
applications as a standalone layer," said Rona Shuchat, program director,
Application Outsourcing Services at IDC. "Instead, these vendors are beginning
to examine how the functionality and availability of the entire technology
stack impact the experience of end users." IDC believes that offerings that
focus on the combined availability of an entire solution are beginning to gain
traction in the market as application outsourcing solutions mature.
