Abstract
This IDC study looks at the opportunities and challenges for IT vendors penetrating the Asia carriers market. Carrier IT spending trends as well as the market forces that shape these trends are discussed together with case studies of IT adoption in China, Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ' s largest IT spender.
"The telecommunications sector will continue to be a lucrative market for IT vendors. However, carriers have matured and learned from past mistakes with disparate systems. Solutions provided by these vendors will need to address the key challenges faced by Asia carriers, which lie in the complications of transforming a network to manage both conventional and emerging network services," says Bill Rojas, research director, Communications Research, IDC Asia/Pacific.
