Abstract
This IDC study forecasts the total size of the worldwide PC semiconductor
market, including desktop PCs, mobile PCs, and x86 servers from 2006 to 2011.
Desktop PC semiconductor revenue is divided into six price bands ranging from
sub-$600 to $2,000+; mobile PC semiconductor revenue is divided into three
price bands ranging from sub-$1,500 to $2,000+; and x86 server semiconductor
revenue is divided by the tower, rackmount, and blade server form factors. In
addition to the market data presented by PC form factor, this study includes a
market forecast of major PC semiconductors organized by subsystem, including
microprocessor, core logic, graphics, main memory, audio, storage,
communications, power management, health management, security, device I/O, and
I/O controller. This document also presents a qualitative analysis of the
desktop PC, mobile PC, and x86 server semiconductor market trends.
