Abstract
This IDC study presents an overview of the worldwide market for bundled and
standalone monitors that attach to PCs. The scope of the market includes
traditional CRTs, flat CRTs, and LCD flat-panel monitors. During the course of
the forecast period, IDC expects the LCD market to continue to experience
stellar shipment growth. Meanwhile, the CRT market will continue its downward
slide. Competition in both CRT and LCD monitor markets will remain fierce, as
vendors look to carve out their place in a market with robust sales, but
slipping revenue.

entice more PC users to make the switch from their old, oversized CRT to
attractive, space-saving flat-panel monitors. The market' s recent move to offer
a range of widescreen sizes should spur interest from consumers who have grown
