Abstract

This IDC study discusses the numerous factors that impact how, when, and why businesses buy new LCD and CRT monitors. The first of two studies based upon a survey of more than 500 persons involved in the purchase of monitors for their company, it takes a close look at the current installed base and examines the key influences to future purchases. Questions answered by this document include the following:

  • Which LCD monitor sizes do companies plan to buy in the next year, and which sizes are falling out of favor?
  • What technologies do businesses want in their next monitor?
  • Do business buyers want widescreen monitors?
  • What types of additional features, such as USB hubs and card readers, do buyers want in their next monitor?
  • How important is branding and bundling to business buyers?
  • Who plans to buy CRTs instead of LCDs in the next year?
