Abstract
This Energy Insights report looks at the current intelligent grid technology
and vendor landscape. Although many people in the utility industry claim that
the intelligent grid is still a ways off for most utilities, Energy Insights
has found that many utilities are beginning to build more intelligence about
their grid today. To better understand what technology components contribute to
this intelligence, this report details these technologies and the some of the
vendors that offer them. Key questions answered include:
- What are the critical intelligent grid technologies of today and tomorrow?
- Which vendors are playing an active role in developing the intelligent grid? Which are not playing an active role?
- What should utilities consider when looking at intelligent grid investments?
"Even with these new technologies that will be brought on board by the
intelligent grid, utilities will still have to focus on ' old' information
technology to make the most effective use of the intelligent grid." - Rick
Nicholson, vice president, Energy Insights
