Abstract
Already in the first half of 2008, over one-half of UK adults with Internet access had watched television online, and many had used it to catch programs they had missed. Throughout Europe, the potential for online TV viewing is huge.
The Web Television in Europe report analyzes the trends that are driving professionally produced television content to the screens of computer viewers.
As an example, in 2008 more than 60% of UK homes will have broadband connections, and that figure will rise to 74% in 2012. As a result, online video viewing is also rising and an increasing amount of broadcast and cable television content is appearing online.
Only one problem. While online users are viewing more content, broadcasters and advertisers are seeing little return on their online TV ventures.
